Nothing crazy about that idea, I'm a little biased of course as the owner of an '86 745i. I'll relate one of my favorite kills regarding the stealth factor in hopes that it will influence your decision . Southbound NJ turnpike LATE at night mebbe 2 or 3 am. This E36 325i is f'ing with me, not playful bimmer to bimmer toying around, but really provoking like say between a WRX and an Evo, or Camaro to Mustang. We have to stop for a toll (this is pre EZ Pass) so naturally both get on it coming out of the booths. I don't show all my cards, just give it enough to hang with him a few lengths back (with my then-girlfriend loudly voicing her discontent). I patiently wait until he's approaching his top end somewhere north of 130, then give it full bitch. Man, I just walked right on past him and didn't back off till I had a little taste of terminal velocity. My point made, I then tried slowing down and getting alongside the guy to at least make eye contact, but he wasn't having it. He just tucked in behind me and wouldn't budge no matter how slow I went. I guess the humiliation of getting owned by such a big old sled was too much for him

So, will my 733 be as potent as the other factory turbo?

Could easily be more so. I should mention mine is BONE stock drivetrain-wise, it's so clean and original, I can't bring myself to do anything major to it. Stock boost is .6 bar, which is only around 8psi. The M30 can take plenty more than that, most guys run 15+. TCD is about ready to release a full tuning program for the factory 745i turbo setup, and you can find complete 745i systems on ebay from time to time, so that may be a good option.
'Ere ya go, mtechnik. These are pretty old, I've barely had the beast out of the garage since November.

Thanks! For now you can check out my cardomain page at: http://www.cardomain.com/ride/287018 . I'm planning on taking it to the CT Valley Chapter Show 'n Shine May 20th so I'll definitely take some new pics then and post a thread. That's a badazz 6er, I'd love to get some similar action shots of my 7.

I guess I have no choice now...

Well now that other people are starting to get the idea to fix up a 7 series, I guess I have no choice but to unveil a little of my project. Its a '84 733i in near flawless condition that I am completely rebuilding.

The car is under heavy surgery getting completely rebuilt with lots of surprises but here is one teaser pic of the engine bay:

Yeah man, I'm definitely down. I'll keep an eye out for gatherings. Hey 733i84, that looks sick! I've seen some of 666fab's work over on the mye28 board and am always impressed. Amazing work. It's nice to see more and more e23s getting proper treatment. They'll never have the following of the e24/28, but we'll take what we can get!

The N.E (CT, NY, MA) crew on this board is known to just get down for some good old fashioned weekend fun on most weekends in the summer. Always an awesome time. I personally am curious to see how your 745 runs, I've always loved them, and have been known to hunt for them from time to time. I almost picked up an amazing '86 in schwarz/water buffalo, but then I bought my old E28 M5...

733i84, looking very impressive, what turbo are you running? You're going to convert to some nice euro bumpers so that it looks extra clean, right?

awesome - I must subscribe to see what happens with this project.

And yes, that 745 is beautiful Kway, as well as your 6 Defacto....
One thing you gotta love about BMWs is that they are timeless
