| What turbo? Simple question. What is the largest turbo you can cram under a 99 m3? Is it a GT30 or the GT 28? Any other suggestions would be appericiated. |

| Depends on the manifold and motor mount, but a GT35R is pretty standard these days. Some have gone bigger than GT35R, but I wouldn't consider them daily drivers at that level.

| I have a GT35R T4. I have a custom tubular equal length top mount turbo manifold which I believe might be the first of it's kind. I saw another person with a bottom mount who hit full boost on this turbo at 2k, which I believe is awesome! So I should be pretty good there. By the way, the manifold is still a bitch to install and I hopefully will get it done soon, if I ever work on it.

| Might get you "full" boost if he runs 9 psi or something. me personally? I think the GT35 is too small, but I'm known to be nuts.

| I love my GT35r...and I think I get full boost (15psi) at about 3800rpms...2000 would be just smoke.

| dad is thinkin of putting a gt30 turbo on his mr2 gt... the whole 'custom fab' thing is putting him off a bit. Plus the fact that mr2 engine bays are a tad hard to work with... he might go for a slightly smaller turbo so it fits easier and doesnt need so long to spool up.

| GT35R is on the norm and "small" these days.

| True. That being said, it's the norm for a very good reason. There really isn't another turbo that I can think of that offers such great behavior, while delivering VERY healthy power numbers...it's one heck of a sweet compromise ![]() And to what someone was saying above...the gain on your EBC must be set incorrectly or something, because I found my 35R making 21psi by 3300 RPM...

| I rode in my friend's M3 who has a T4 tubular manifold and a pt67 non-ball bearing .63 a/r hot-side turbo. Full boost making 616whp is 3500rpm. Still very streetable and capable of 700whp easy. So far that is the single most enjoyable car I have ever experienced. Much better than the T66 Supra I had or other single turbo Supras I have been in. So yes, with this car you can make plenty of power and still have it very streetable. He does have a 2.79 geared LSD which helps keep the car in boost longer and is very enjoyable at cruising speeds. So with a shorter gear ratio you can get to boost even sooner, but will sacrifice traction. Also a dual ball bearing setup would obviously increase the spool much more as well.
