I installed a t3/t4 on my m20b25 with a 38mm "8psi" external wastegate and megasquirt computer. After blowing two stock gaskets we thought that it was just not enough clamping force from the stock bolts so I bought arp studs and a stainless gasket from vacmotorsports. The head was also milled true before installing the new gasket. During the first run with the new bolts and gaskets Joe(brother/mechanic/testdriver) found that the boost was getting up to 20psi(dont trust the map sensor from the megasquirt for actual values) using a gauge. the problem was solved to 14psi using higher quality wastegate pressure line and a 6000rpm boost cut. It was driven quite a bit like this while waiting for my new spec stage 3+ clutch to arrive so it could be dynoed. Soon after the clutch was installed it began overheating instantly when under boost. The head was removed and the stainless gasket was erroded through to a coolant passage.

So the question is: Is a copper gasket better than layered stainless? and can someone tell me in detail what "O-Ringing" is and if its the answer to my problems?
