diesel turbos?

Can you take a turbo from a diesel, and use it on a m50? I can get all the old benz 300 Turbo Diesels I want. Was would it be a good turbo to use for my 325is?

Do you know what size that turbo is? It could just be a baby turbo and putting that on your car could be a waste of time, with an M50 u could over spool that guy... a nice turbo for what HP your looking for would be a GT28 or somthing.. Those are real efficeint... Find out what turbo is on that benz though..

Use a Holset hx35 from a cummins turbo diesel. Most proven turbos period, hx45 is way to much for what your looking for. A hx35 will be perfect. Cheap as can be too!

hx35 is good to about 400whp. hx40 to about 470whp, hx45 is about 650whp.

Gt-35r FTW, you can run over 600rwhp with them. And they wont take for ever to spool. Oh and about your question, some guy took a turbo of a huge truck and slapped it on his e36 m3. I think the only thing you have to do is change the adapter plate.

I think its the same size turbo, jus a different code name.

GT35R is a badass turbo, but lets compare the specs shall we:
Holset: 70-73 lb/min
GT35R: 65lb/min
GT35R with S cover would spool faster, with the anti surge ring. But with a bigger motor, like a 2.5-3.0, the spoolup would be insane. On a 2.0 4g63 full spool is 4300 at 28psi.... Most BMW people dont run this boost.......
Either way, both are insanse turbos, and I will likely run a GT35R, I just love turbo discussion.

thats awesome, these days theres hardly any lag for turbo chraged engines. oh btw i almost baught a 95 awd tsi talon, but looked at the price of parts and almost shat my self. some parts are more expensive than bmw's.

Seriously? Parts to modify it are soooo dirt cheap. Not even 400 bucks, 13s lol. I am just ready for something different.
Nah, that lag isnt bad at all! Say you redline at 9500, thats 5200 rpms of full spool power! Quite a good deal, and the turbo can be had for 850.

I got a quote on fixing the ABS and an oil leak and it added up to 3000 dollars Theyre awesome cars, and are now down in the 7's. Oh btw all I can say is get ready for RWD
