Question How much power out of 8psi?

I am curious as to what I could do to get the most power out of my turbo m3 application with running only a mier 8psi. I believe that my aerocharger is limited to 8 to 10 psi max. So what could i do to step it up. Turbo spec cams, High perfomance valve springs? What would really give me the edge Iam looking for?

GT30R comes to mind.

The 20G fromActive Autowerke puts out around 300ish hp / tq. at 8psi
GT30R - upgrade head gasket, head studs, 42 - 47lb. injectors, custom programming and intake.

Other turbochargers like the Garrett GT28RS (internaly wastegated) would be great for ridiculously quick spool but wouldn't be as efficient at 8lbs. That turbo's only rated for 350hp almost maxed out as it is and wouldn't carry the kind of top end you would want from a turbo'd BMW.

20G - 300 hp / tq.
30R - 330(ish) I would think at 8lbs. It's rated to handle much more than that.

Hope that helps

It will say, "After barreling down the road like a bullet through a gun, this dirt bag has the nerve to pull over and smoke a cigarette. But before he can hop back in his speed maching to grab his uzi so he can start popping caps, an officer pulls up to give him with a fist full of justice. This is the last joy ride this speed freak will be taking for a while after they give him a list of charges that reads like a shopping list."

Current project:

1995 //M3 - 2 door, 5 speed - Cosmos Black
- Rogue engineering shock tower mounts
- UUC street / track transmission mounts
- JT-Designs aluminum underbody paneling
- Active Autowerke 3" intake
- Active Autowerke differential support bracket

Stockish for now, and love it

i would keep what you have for now and just save the money, there is new technology coming out of porsche with turbos that have the motorised vanes, for more boos these fins pop out of your spool to make your turbo bigger, its going to be on the newest model porsche turbo, its supposed to be revolutionary, they act all most like flaps that fold, they are definatly coming after market.

They just copied the system used by Garrett for a decade. The Porche system operates exactly like Garrett's VNT system used on turbo-diesels. One thing to consider....a VNT turbo itself starts around $12,000 for their smallest one. There's a reason even the Supra crowd stopped using it.

[edit]: The turbo outline diagram on the cover of Corky bell's book maximum boost shows a VNT turbo (look on the left side, top is "open" for high RPM, bottom is "closed" for spool)......its on matty's avatar.

That is correct highboosted. In this book there is a section about the exact turbo I run in my car. Aerodyne aerocharger, uses variable vane technology. The turbo spools up rediculously fast but tends to die out at about 6grand. I like the response but I know I can get 400hp out of it with the proper engine modifications I just would like some opinions from some experienced people about my ideas to produce this power.

For instants:
turbo spec cams
Programmable engine management( AEM EMS)
Ported Head
high performance valves and springs
bigger intercooler
any other ideas would be much appreciated!
