Supercharging an M5 - the story.

Day 6 - Startup

Ok Ok, we have two very tired gyes coming to the dyno
and not at 0800 am but 1 pm instead... of course Murphy checked in yesterday - and we had to make new oil-hoses for the chargers (machine pressed connectors), beacuse they where to short, the Paintshop is still working
on the front/rear/mirrors, so whe are still lending varius parts...
We also forgot about the fuel-regulator.... so that had to be first
thing to do at the dyno.

Well around 3 pm we can finally startup.






We have 3 PC's hooked up running emulator, diagnostics, and a Innovate Wideband lambda, plus analog values as fuelpressure and boost.






Wrooom, my old 20" Harge Nova front wheels are lend for the Dyno - the winter-tyres
that are on melts if used on the dyno.





4 pm... plenum gasket blown between intakebodys and plenum - right side. (due to damage around the clamp) ....... so Murphy checks in again. - where is the reserve .... in Gävle 150 kilometers away... ouich

- ok lets call it a Day then....

Back with Day 7 - and movie asap.

Due to Murphy and his damned law - we lost basically Day 6

So my one-week plan failed I'am afraid, next available time
for all involved and the dyno is set beginning next week around 13/14th of February.

We still feel the need for some more fine-tuning until can
sit back and relax, I did'nt even looked at ignition and
Vanos today, good areas to make some more hp.

oh my do I have to get a twin screw M5....I like your decision to go to a daily driver instead of a hp monster....I would just want to be able to blow the doors off new vettes and supertuned imports. Nice work

Well for that first part I have the 540is project...wich I hope will be
a combo of both HP monter and doorblower :-)

You guys really need sleeved clamps (also called liner clamps), for use with silicone connectors. Keeps the connector from getting cut by the clamp (I learned the hard way, and at 23 bucks a pop for the specialty connector I use, expensive lessons). In higher boost situations t-bolt clamps come in handy.

We have looked at other clamps - but on 0.5 bar its not an issue so far
- but that is something we will follow up.
