I believe it, since chips make a big difference for turbo cars. The M3 is a more highly tuned car though, so it reacts to high octane fuel more favorably than the S4.

hey man

I hang out with this guy all the time. his name is steve and he is one of my s4 friends. He has been dying to race me. I am waiting for it to get colder to give him a better advantage because he will need it, LOL. he ran a 12.8 and is the fastest documented s4 out there AFAIK.

oh yeah, I ran a 4.5 on an "accurate" gtech

The link below proves everything.

Well...I think turbo cars gain more horse power with the 100 octane gas. Just like compare the ActiveAutowerke turbocharged 328i with the RacingDynamics N/A tune 328i, the turbocharged 328i would gain more hp than the N/A tune 328i.

The car does 0-60 stock in what, like the high 6s, while 540s consistently pull sub 6s, Car&Driver does it in 5.4 seconds. There is NO way a slightly modded S70 is going to have a chance.
A slightly modded can mean ECU, full exhaust upgrade (including downpipe), so...YES, it will have more than just a chance. Speaking from personal experience.

You mean low end torque, right? You probably haven't been in many Volvo T5s to think that they don't have that much torque. You'll be surprised......

What is your number? But wait...I don't think I run 14 flat...more like low 13s.....

ONce I was driving my friends 1994 850 turbo stock with 112,000 miles on it. And my friend was driving his moms s70 t5..we got stoped at a red lights and I lined up next to him. He said to punch it when the light turns green. So we both floored it. His tires were scratching a bit threw 1st and 2nd gear..he has that clutchless thing. but i pulled on him! and i pulled on him good too....but...he had 2 girls in his car and I only had 1 in mine. His 850 turbo he claimes 245 hp and his moms T5 has 268 hp. I don't understand how I beat him...I just put it in sport mode and floored it...beat him very very nicely, he dident gain on me at all untill i braked. anyways, just thought id share that.

why are you changing your story? Before you said your friend was driving an s80 T6...now an s70 T5..both of which should smoke an 850 turbo..

I have to disagree with you there brother. Turbochargers are known for torque. This is the advantage of turbocharging over supercharging.

What ever gave you the idea that turbos create less torque than a N/A engine?

I'm putting down 375 lb/ft of torque at the crank..the M5 puts out 368 lb/ft at the crank. (That's at 6.5psi)

My mom just got a volvo S40 to replace the beater jetta. What can you do to the S40 turbos? From what I read they operate at a low pressure, now if I could crank the pressure up...

Very simple...install a bleeder valve. You can use a valve from the hardware store. Bleed off a little more air from the wastegate, and you increase the boost. I'd advise you get a boost gauge first to avoid overboost and blowing your moms engine.
