Water/Alcohol vs. Nitrous Injection into Intercooler - Page 2

I was talking to a few people on how to increase the potential of the intercooler ITSELF. they said that instead of injecting nitrous into it to do water/alky and it will cool it alot more. But, all you guys think I should inject it into the motor?

I wouldn't. On my gt35/40r turbo setup, i'm going to be injecting water/alki into the intercooler. Do some reading on the internet about it, but personaly I feel it's a great way to reduce intake temps and way to run A LOT more boost safely.

Sounds good, you should deff give it a try. You can always change what you're doing since it is pretty cheap to setup. Be sure to let us know your results.

yeah, the subaru and evo guys inject it into the motor, its safe, and cools down the cylinders. its what cooled turbos before intercoolers where out (i remember reading thats what the army used) Simply spraying water into the intercooler won't do that much...its just like the sti's intercooler sprayer...
I mean why did mitsubishi get rid of there evo's FMIC sprayer? because it really didnt do much. You might want to further investigate.

Wait I am confused now? do you want to inject the water/alcohol into the intercooler it's self? or spray the mixture onto the intercooler.......?

its not water. its water and alochol and it does actually do alot. why do people spray nitrous INTO the intercooler. it cools it alot more and some people (on bmws) have recieved gains of 50hp from doing the nitrous spray into the intercooler. the water/alky mixture i like better than the nitrous from what i have heard.

so wait now.... you are saying to spray water/alky or nitrous INTO the intercooler or ONTO the intercooler?

Sorry just confused as to why you would spray into the intercooler when you could do that after the intercooler right in the intake manifold? course if you mean spraying the mixtures ONTO the intercooler so as to make it have an evaporative affect on it or nitrous with it's cooling affect from going from a liquid to a gas...?

i dont see how it could be better. nitrous is like 80 degrees below freezing. ppl have seen 50% temperature decrease

You are getting yourselves all confused. There are two very different applications being discussed here.

1. Inject N2O or Water/Methanol mix into the intake tract and hence into the engine. This is not what the original poster is asking about.

2. Spraying N2O or CO2 or Water/Methanol onto the intercooler to reduce the charge temperature.

To answer your question, you can go with any of these three options. Be aware however that anyhting that lets liquid drip onto the track surface will get you ejected from a drag strip if and when it is noticed. I wouldn't go with WAter/Alcohol spray for that reason.

Between nitrous and carbon dioxide sprays the main factor would seem to be cost. Be aware that nitrous is flammable and CO2 is actually a fire suppressor agent. However CO2 can suffocate you.

DEI CO2 spray
NX N-Tercooler spray
NOS nitrous Spray
