| The 1.8T or 2.0T? The 1.8T came with either the K03 or K03s turbo, depending on the year. I belive they boosted around 7 psi stock. Not positive on that though. I'm not sure which turbo/how much boost comes on the 2.0T FSI motor now. edit: Try searching the www.VWVortex.com technical forum FAQ's particularly the 1.8t motor forum

| you can get pretty much any turbo to put out 25 psi..i don't think he meant that 1.8t's roll out of the factory boosting 25 lbs how do they run in the top end? if they peek at 2.5 k that housing must choke the hell out of upper rpms

Yep pretty much, the turbo is worthless, after normal highway driving, i pop the hood and the exhaust housing just glows red, yea like you said and turbo can technically make 25pis but after a certain psi it just blows hot air... |

| what is the commpression on the 1.8L engine? my friend has a 1.8t and he drives it and when he is done the turbo, not the exuast but the actual turbo, will glow red....does this happen often? how bad is it for the turbo/engine/car? and if you really wanna run 25psi get a little bigger turbo....does anyone use the stock one for that?trying to get that much boost out of a tiny turbo isnt worth it, and you will run out of power in higher RPMS.

| I'm guessing that the A4 runs very little boost because my friend was telling me he would be attaining gains of approximately 65 hp (at the crank) just for slapping in a chip. Correct me if I'm wrong but that sounds like quite a low amount of stock boost. |

| The VW Jetta is the same way in the 1.8T...tiny turbo, running low boost from the factory. I'm helping a friend speed up, and we're going to chip it to get more boost. It's bad when it glows red, but that's what turbo-timers are for. After running high boost for a while, it needs to idle to cool off so you don't break shit.
