What can an auto trans take?

After putting thought into the build up of the actual turbo kit I neglected the trans. What can a stock auto trans in a 93 525i handle? For that matter is there a performance rebuild kit for the auto transmissions in these vehicles? What fun is the extra power if ya grenade the gear box? Any answers would be greatly appreciated.
