| I've been talkin with Toni the owner at VACMotorsports about the headgaskets and I ended up getting one that is .120" thick. He actually explained a lot of things over the phone to me about the gasket, and thought that I should post this on the board here about their head gaskets. When you are installing the head and tightening the head studs down you need to make sure that you do each step twice in a row before moving on to the next. like 20 ft twice in a row, then 40 ft lbs twice in a row before the final. He said they have found in the shop that they dont' actually get torqued properly if you only do the steps once, and this is why a lot of people have had leakage problems. It's also a good idea to hit the mating surface on the block with 80 grit sandpaper to smooth everything down for a good seal. You don't need to polish the surface off like some people mentioned on another similar thread. Any other questions feel free to ask me, he gave me a lot of other information on the headgaskets as well. |
