Low Budget Turbo Conversion

Hi!

Im new at this forum, and it looks like many of you have did what very few has done in Norway, converted to turbo

So, after burning around in my friends 200sx with a little T25 I wondered: "Why cant I do the same?"

So I am asking you for a little assistance. What do I need? I have a almost stock E36 320i Coupe (M50B20) engine, with a cold air intake, supersprint catback, and a chip (Moves the redline 500 up), the engine is originally 150BHP.

I have many other great parts, but I am just missing the eninge power. I can mention such as:

M3 LSD
H&R Fully Adjustable Coilovers
Brembo Brakes

and so on

Hi, I own a car like your but with a M52 engine, I've heard about Audspeed turbo kit and ESS do a supercharger kit for our cars. The power gain is about 220/240hp, but with other goodies you should go to 260/280hp, NOS? What type of cai do you have installed?

Okay. ESS is to expencive for me, it costs 60 000 NOK, about 10 000$ here in Norway, but whats the price on the Audspeed turbo kit?

The major issue here, is the headers, the rest seems no problem. Talked to a friend of mine now, he has a E30 325i with about 500bhp, and he says I need this:

Turbo
Headers
Elbow \ Downpipe
Pipes
Intercooler
Progressive fuelregulator
Airfilter

What more?

Does anybody know where I can buy turbo headers for the M50 engine?

The Audspeed kit cost $3000.

Got some progression here now, sendt a request on a header in Sweden, a guy that makes them there. Will cost me about 2000NOK (350$).

Also maybe got a small turbo for free, and I found a forge dumpvalve on ebay for about 40$ (used)

Just have to wait and see what I will do

you will need bigger injectors, a wastegate, blow off valve, and if you want to get serious, low compression pistons / thicker headgasket, maybe a new crank (i think m50 cranks are forged already...) if your thinking about tearing the engine apart you should consider stroking it higher because the m50 has a lot more potential than 2 liters.

Will I need the bigger injectors when I am just going to run it at 0.3 bar ?

On 0,3bar no.

0.3 bar is kindda low for good power. Whit taller head gasket and an intercooler
you can boost 0.6-0.8 bar on stock internals and fuel system , just a custom chip to remap the fuel and timing maps .

You can find an used exthaust mainfold from a 2.5 TDS engine , make a flange to fit on your cilinder head
P.S. Is your M3 LSD 3.15 ? Isn't it too long ?
