| Turbo manifold life span Okay well, people alwyas say that the cats iron turbo manifolds will last a life time, and i completely agree. But i also know there is a few people running a tubular manifold, one of these people said " I'm sure my manifold will evetually crack" and boost logic offers a 3 year warrenty on their tubular manifold.
So, what makes them so prone to cracking?
Some say it is the welds. Now, is this the fact that in some cases there are so MANy welds? Or is it the welds in general?
Now, there are lots fo headers out there that the tubluar part is welded to the flange and I have never heard complaint about these units? Is the turbo to blame for a highier risk of cracks in the welds?
Imagine this, a turbo manifold that the pipes are all one piece bent perfectly, the only welds would be at the flange. The welds on the flange are double welded and a weld els is done to the inside of the flange on the exhuast manifold. Would this manifold still have a shorter lifespan compared to a cast iron manifold? |
