| Upgrade the Cyclinder Head for a Turbo? Well my head is warpped and I am in the process of replacing it, I was wondering if i should upgrade any of the components of the head to somethign more durbale. I know the 97+ retainers are the way to go, but what about springs and valves? Should i just use the stock stuff? or should i try and find some titanium or chromoly stuff? I dont plan on running excessively high boost, whatever my 8.5:1 compression will hold thanks, Todd |

| Replace the keepers with new factory ones, and get *slightly* stiffer valvesprings. Mill the head just enough till it's straight, and use a thicker gasket so you can lower the CR and have the ability to run more boost.

| What are the "keepers" that you are referring to? My original cyclinder head has been warpped, but my concern is, if i mahcine it to straighten it then i may loose the entire point of having low compression. Do you think a warpped head is salvageable? I may replace the whole head so i don't have to worry about the dam thing. |

| It depends on how warped it is, If it is warped bad then even a thick headgasket won't be able to lower your compression enough. It would be worthwhile to get lower compression pistons and reworking the head, depending on how much you can find a new head for. It depends on how far you want to go. |

| Its a pretty bad warp. if all goes well, ill probably just replace the head. I wanted to buy a new truck but i think Im just going to stick with turboing the bimmer. Where can i get some stiffer valve springs, I havent had time to look around. |

| http://www.vacmotorsports.com Contact them, just my suggestion. They were extremely helpful in suggesting the right components for my 99.

It will say, "After barreling down the road like a bullet through a gun, this dirt bag has the nerve to pull over and smoke a cigarette. But before he can hop back in his speed maching to grab his uzi so he can start popping caps, an officer pulls up to give him with a fist full of justice. Current project: 1995 //M3 - 2 door, 5 speed - Cosmos Black - Rogue engineering shock tower mounts - UUC street / track transmission mounts - JT-Designs aluminum underbody paneling - Active Autowerke 3" intake - Active Autowerke differential support bracket Stockish for now, and love it |

| Turner makes some springs as well. You could always go with the VAC stage 1 head...may be money well spent if you are planning on going turbo. Just dont tell em your current head is warped since they have a core charge ![]() |

| I have thought of all of this, but I was waiting to hear some responses about sources for the components and such. Im talking to some valve spring people in the next day or two. Good times! Still looking for a replacement head, if anyone has a friend that is interested. |
