I noticed you are from San Diego. Are you passing smog with the turbo mods? I would be thinking about a turbo kit more seriously if I knew I could get away with a smog. Is it possible or do you have a clever (i.e. illegal) method of beating the smog guys?

I have been saving 10K plus for an LS1 conversion to pass smog laws. If a turbo is still possible in Cali then I guess I can go that way instead and finally take my girlfriend somewhere nice with the extra $.

I don't know what it is about California. People say it's conservative but at the same time we seem to be run by hippies that cry about the air polution like little babies. You can barely get away with adding an intake these days. It's retarded.

There are ways to get around smog. For instance, there are cities in the boonies in Cali like Julian that have no smog laws. If you have a buddy that lives there or something you can register the car in Julian and have a legal race car. A guy told me about someone who did this just to prove that there are loopholes in the system. Another way is registering the car in another state that has no smog laws and drive with an out-of-state license. This is easy for guys that go to college in another state but are from here...or someone that has an investment property in that state...or you can lie and just put down a address that doesn't exist or you don't live at which the guy that used julian did to prove a point. They don't check that stuff cause they are way too busy.

There are other more illegal ways also but I don't condone it. Legally finding a loophole is the best anyway cause it's legal and you can say F-U!

So without any dirty tricks your boosted BMW would not pass smog? That is to say, if you smogged the legit way you would not pass?

also, the head gasket is for $150. not both the studs and gasket. The studs are $150 also.

Those are great deals. If the headgasket were .080", I would have pick that up from you right away.

Thanks for the comments about the magazine article.

Any forced induction BMW unless it's a Mechtech kit or Dinan kit will not pass in Cali.

So I just got back from vacation today. On the trip home, my heater valve(actuator) which controls the flow of coolant to the heater core, blew apart on construction on the highway. I managed to bypass the valve to get the car home, and as soon as I pulled into my place at school it blew apart.

Im going to use his manifold... thats it.

People say he is the worst/slowest shipper ever. Not even just from this forum but many other boards/people.

We will see.

My thoughts would be to stay away from him and his parts. The car runs fine with the turbo kit, but his service is crap and he doesn't even give you installation instructions. If your just getting the manifold, it shouldn't be a big deal.

Ok, I posted the head gasket, head studs, and the clutch kit for sale again in the sale area. The pics are up if anyone is looking for any of those parts at a really good price.
