e30 m3 s14 turbo

anyone turbocharged an s14? i have an e30 m3, and dont want to spend the cash building a higher hp n/a motor. would rather get creative and build a solid forced induction s14. i dont want to swap an m50/52, or s50/52, mainly to try and maintain the weight balance of the s14 in the e30 chasis. just wondering if anyone has any experience, or has any info. im also new to the forum, looks like some amazing stuff so far, im very impressed!!

any other bimmer hotrodders in north east ohio, cleveland akron area on here??

Korman does it here in N.C., but I wouldn't use them and I've seen it done before. But the weight difference between the s14 and m50 is fairly small. Or you could use the aluminum 2.8 and stroke it. That would be a killer motor. Don't over-estimate the difficulty od a DIY turbo. There really isnt much to it if you can find good tuning.

Isn't that 90 degree bend coming right out of the turbo bad for airflow?

wish I could remember where. My s50 doesnt have the ac so its about the same weight as the car was before the swap. dont know if the m42 and s14 wheigh the same but if they do than a s50 without ac will wheigh the same in your car as the stock engine or very close. I weighed my car after and it is about 20lb heavier.

2.3l s14 will give you more than enough power. Depends on how much power you want. and how much you want to spend. If you only want about 40/50bhp you could always strap on a turbo,go with low boost. About 0,5bar max. And use a small intercooler, but if you want MORE,then you should lower the comp etc. But that's excpensive. And it seems that many of the fastest bimmers use the s14.

if you are going to turbo the car, keep the engine, it is such a wonderful engine and that is the whole point in having the e30 m3, the engine makes the car. how much power are you looking for, cause i have an 89 m3 with 219rwhp. i have alpha-n, and evoIII cams, group A headers, and a vsr exhaust. it keeps up with most stock e36 m3s and some slighlty modded.
