IC thickness/ Endtank style

My intercooler is 3" thick, I am building the end tanks, and have run into an issue. I was going to use 3 in or 3.5" piping form the Ic to the turbo and 3.5" to the TB, But to have a clean and nice setup i would have to use 2.5" piping on the endtanks, then use a coupler or some type of expender pipe to go up to the 3.5" size.

Now i can see welding 2.5" piping to the endtank with a coupler then using 3" piping, although that seem inefficent, but to use 3.5" piping seems out of the questions.

Finally, I can make the endtank however i please, meaning... Have the endtank so that it attaches at an angle, 3" welded to the IC then 2" later it could be at 3.75" or 4" to hold a 3.5" pipe, I'd hate to do that because it wont look as good (although it wont show) and I am afraid of it getting damaged or not fitting properly.

What do the rest of you do? Using 2.5" piping is out of the question.

as a side not, What do the AA endtanks look like?
