| unlimited power as long as you have the cash flow, i have heard rumors of a guy that ran at the glen who had the nonvanos M50 motor that had 400 N/A horsepower, these guys are also 50 year old BMW techs but you know, anything is possible |

| I spoke with Will Turner (Turner Motorsports) and Mike Morris (Schneller Tuning) a few years ago about the whole non-vanos thing when I was looking for power in my 525it. Both told me the blocks are bullet-proof and are perfect for stroker motors. They both said they take well to carberation conversions, but not FI, not sure why. But, both also told me that it would be cheaper to do an S50 M3 swap then to build the M50 up to make the same hp.

| Carberation conversions? And did he say why that block wouldn't be good for FI? Also, if I'm not mistaken, the S50 and M50 share the same block, just differen't bore, so that'd seam strange why the M50 stroked wouldn't be good for FI but the S50 would. I have the technical write up on my other computer if anyone wants to see. I'm close to calling and asking for Turner himself, becuase I once called about the "M50 3.0L crankshaft mic'd and polished" on their clearance section, becuase the phone operator couldn't tell me otherwise. I'm guessing it's the crank I'd need for stroking my motor. |

| Sorry run on sentences. The block is fine, even better due to heavy cast iron and thicker piston walls. its the non-vanos head that they said sucked for FI. Will Turner said it can be done, but tuning a custom chip would be very expensive. He said by the time they were done, I could have an S50 conversion, mildly tuned (chip, injectors and euro hfm) for about the same price. Needless to say it wasn't an issue, the 525it is gone, and my friend and I did the M3 conversion on my 318ti for under $5K. that would still be my recommendation, find a wrecked M3, do the swap yourself.
