advice on eclipse turbo put on e36 m3

Okay so i am on a student budget, i go to school in the domincan republic,,,,where labor is cheap.

my cousin is putting on a t3/t4 hydbrid turbo on his 99 eclipse, he was tellling me that i can use his stock turbo and intercooler. Now piping and installation can be done here cheap, this turbo puts out about 10 to 15psi.

Do i need engine rebuild to handle the pressure? i have 95 e36 m3 3.0 obd1

Can I use stock injectors, or upgrade and if i do upgrade i am gonna need software?

And Yes i do need software so where can i get custom tuned software for this type of turbo?

all in all if this works out, i can have a turbo M3 at the fraction of the cost of what most kits costs.

what do u guys think about this.

If indeed the engine (The bmw one right..?) is in good condition then I'm sure it could hold a few lbs of intercooled boost. You will DEFINETLY need a fuel system upgrade. The last thing you want is to be running lean and pop your engine. Maybe some higher performance injectors and a decent FMU for starters.

okay so how much boost can good m3 3.0 engine take?

How much boost can a good ported and polished 3.0 engine take?

if it can handle up to 10 to 15...then i am good

now as far as FMU(i am guessing it is fuel managment) cant that be done with a chip tunned by active autowerkes, and also have that chip tuned to bigger fuel injectors aswell.

i am still doing my research any help would be great, thanks.

Wont work. The turbo is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay to small. turbo and intercooler are only about 1/8th of the price of a turbo kit. You need to do A LOT of research before you go F.I. Basically you wouldn't save any money by using his parts. It is one of those things, if you have to ask.....

Scotty is right. You really need to learn alot more before you go down this road. A turbo that small would spool instantly and would provide very little power. And I'm no M3 genious but I'm guessing you wouldn't be able to do 10-15 without some kind of internal mods.

And porting and polishing won't effect how much boost the car can handle.

hahah 2g eclipses have one of the smallest stock turbos ive seen. its a t25 turbo. the older ones have a 14b, and can be found from a junkyard. they are bigger and ill produce alot more than a t25.

pros of the t25 are its fast spool and small intercooling needs. however, on a 4cyl 2.0 engine, it looses its airflow efficiently greatly after about 5krpm. Having a 3.0 engine, it would probably be ALOT worse, and you will just be blowing hot air after like 4.5 grand. If you plan to use this on the highway, and plan on driving it hard...this is not the turbo at all.

it would definately be a waste of time bothering with it. have you seen the turbine housing? you will have soo much backpressure and lose alot of your low end power. i definately think its a waste, just go with a kit, and a bigger, more reliable turbo.

someone correct me if i have any of my facts wrong.

i also forgot to mention CFM. I forgot the exact specs of the t25, but theres no way u could flow it all to a 3.0+ engine. TOO small. Heheheh

yeah i figured its small, but anyways this was just and idea and i am glad i got know what you guys thought about it. anyways as far as internal mods, i am getting a port and polish, and i am gonna try to bore it from 3.0 to 3.3 hopfully, and get bigger iinjectors and chip.

as for the turbo...gotta srart saving up

Uh, what you say makes no sense. You should altleast learn the basics of your engine and FI before you start.

If what i say makes no sense, then pherhaps its a good thing that i here on DTMpower.net, so that other bmw fans can educate me on this matter. I will admit when it comes to FI i know nothing.

as for the port and polish.....how does that make sense. if my engine is ported its gonna need bigger injectors. and tms has a package where u have bigger injectors and chip that goes along with it. forgive me if my research is wrong, but i would like to research this and everything else regarding my engine and FI properly.

educate me people...are there links i can go visit and read up on.
