| EGT gauge , Air/fuel ratio ? I have a question that I have been thinking about for a couple of days. I want a gauge simply to tell me if I am running rich or lean. I am not going to take my manifold off to drill it to put the pyrometer in because it is too much work to take out. I can put it after the turbo, but then it will be off by an average of 200 degrees. A wideband is out of the question for me. So my question is considering my situation, (I dont need something accurate to the decimal point) I just want something to warn me if I am running lean or rich. Should I just get an autometer a/f ratio gauge since it is easier to install, cheaper, and possibly the same amount accurate as an egt gauge after the turbo? |

| The problem with a basic narrow band is "lean" is considered anything over 14.7 AFR and "rich" is considered anything under 14.7 AFR. Very inaccurate. I run a split second narrow band for 'visual only" and a PLX wideband for accuracy. The difference between the 2 gauiges outside of stoichmetric (14.7) is amazing. The narrow band shows "pinned rich" from 14.6 -down and the narrow band shows "dangerously lean " starting at 14.8 that is the dilemma. You really need a wideband, anything else would be garbage. A PLX is around $300-320, and is a great piece at a great price. ![]() |

| Here is the wideband I use and I like it a lot. UEGO1000 http://www.efisystems.com/ For EGT I would recommend the SPA

| very simple. You drill a whole in the exhaust where you want the wideband installed. It should come with a threaded bung so you can weld it in and be able to screw in the o2 sensor. Plug the o2 sensor into the display and run the cables to where you want the display to be at.

| zt-2 I'd recommend the ZT-2 wideband with remote display.. acts as a boost/egt and wideband afr gauge. It looks good and it works well. If you have a laptop, you can even save your sessions to disk - for future reference.. ![]() -Dave
