Is NOS street-legal?

Hey guys, it seems that a bunch of people are gettin NOS systems, and it seems like a great upgrade for the price (at the sacrifice of a little engine life of course) but, is it street-legal? My cuz keeps tellin me that theres absolutely no way that it is legal, because if people have it then they will obviously drive fast. This argument is pretty damn dumb, since people who own 911 turbos, dodge vipers, and any kind of ferrari are ALSO going to drive fast, and they sure as hell are legal, but anyway, is NOS legal or not?
