| Damn you guys sure have helped him ![]() Blow it, please. If it was a 1995 I'd say Turbo the shit out of it. An M3 needs it's power all the time. Plus it's less dangerous on your engine from what I hear. Take a driving school class before you do this, don't want another Roderick accident .

| Depends on the supercharger. If it where me, I would go with a twin screw PD supercharger. Jim C is coming out with one for the E36 M3 (OBDII) which puts out better power than an E46 M3. IRCC 343 RHP. The torque curve is flat and available at very low RPMs. It has one of the most drivable HP and Tq curves. I had the chance to ride in a 325is with a twin screw and it was phenominal. At any rate, WoottonLax- I would take some driving schools and do some autoX's first. The E36 with that kind of power is really going to be limited in traction given the maximum tire width you can fit under the fenders. You will need to be a very good driver to handle the car. Otherwise you will have spent a lot of money on a car that just liquifies the tires. Pete

| id go with the turbo cause if money dont matter then you can afford to fix something when it blows. super chargers are safer and more reliable i hear.

| I thought about it a lot and finally went turbo. I would NEVER buy a centrifugal sc because as far as I can tell its the worst of the bunch. The PD is nice but I worry about its efficiencies and (because of its limited space) the efficiency of the water-to-air intercooler. The turbo just makes more power and the boost is adjustable and there aren't as many drivability issues unless you are running serious boost (as in I find my AA stage one extremely streetable.) Again I would like to mention how easy it is to press a button on a boost controller. If you want sick horsepower and mega-boost just press the button and when you are done just press it again and go back to a low boost setting. It seems to me that that is much better for the engine than a blower (especially PD) that would have to run in one setting all of the time.

| A while back on What is now Spike TV there was a show called Super 2NR TV and they listed the pros and cons of both turbos and superchargers. I have to say they did pretty damn well at explaining it and I hope that I wasn't the only one who seen that episode. I hope they bring that show back that TwinsTurbo Automotive Toyota Supra they was building up on the show was to die for. Super Street Mag covered the buildup of the Supra so I guess im somewhat lucky. I would go with a Turbo. I love Superchargers and all, but Turbos give a lot of hp for the buck and if you get a BOV you get that cool "Psssssssssssst" sound!!! I think Superchargers and Turbos are just a matter of your personal preferance. Superchargers and Turbos alike are basically almost the same thing, they both force air into your engine, both produce a huge hp gain, just they get their power different ways.

As for real life examples: RAIMA's E36 318ti Supercharged M44 1.9L Current Output at the wheels = 258hp @ 17-18psi? (Hope RAIMA can confirm this) BLOWN3's E36 318iS Turbocharged M44 1.9L (Hybrid GT28 Turbo) Current Output at the wheels = 232hp @ 16psi (Previously 245hp @ 18psi. Winding up the boost again soon) Both cars have similar amounts of engine work but not fair to say which system is "better" because both run different compression ratios and so running the same amount of boost isn't going to give a fair comparison. In the end, one of the important factors is: who gets the power to the ground (RAIMA kills me in that department ) A few of us were there when we watched a an E36 M3 (3.0L version) chomp an E39 M5 doing the quartermile distance.
