| my 95 m3 was just recently s/c with a dinan blower. along with a few other mods, bored t/b 540i hfm and dinan chip/ injectiors/ ect now all the fittings on the blower seem to be realy good new and tight. i dont think their are any leaks. my charger has only been on for 200 miles. do i just need to wait it out a little while longer for the boost to come in stronger. i have a larger s/c pulley and should be boosting about 10- 11 psi. but when my car finnal gets up to about 5-6 psi around 5krpm the engine light comes on and boost dosnt clime realy all that much i might go up further but i dont want to push it too hard just yet. my a/f ratio is a littel on the rich side and i havent gotten my car into osh in van niehs to tunn it yet. does all this seem ordinary. will my boost come in sooner and stronger after i break it in a little longer, or when i get it tunned right, is it because my car runns to rich or is it just cause its has gotten alot of mods and my car inst use to them yet. thanx for any input you may have. how much boost does your car make and what boost do you guys have in lets say 2 gear around 3-4k rpm |

| Centrifigal supercharger. Impeller speed is a square of the engine RPM, and impeller speed is what produces more boost. On a 10 psi setup, the last 7 or so pounds of boost will be made between 4.5k to 7k RPM, actually, MOST of the boost is past 6k. You won't see anything much higher than ~3 psi below 4.5k RPM, ever. That's good, and that's bad. It's good because the power comes on linear, is predictable, easy to control, and is somewhat gentle on the motor, yet still gets you down the road pretty damned fast. It's bad because you're only making max boost at redline. So a 300 RWHP centrifigal supercharged car is probably only making that 300 RWHP for less than a second before it has to shift or hit the rev limiter. Doesn't suck, by any means, and I personally prefer the way a centi drives compared to a turbo or positive displacement supercharger.

| thanx for the imput i just am not use to the s/c deal so i was just checking to see if it all was normal i plan on getting it tuned very soon but im just curious what affect on power does runing to rich present. i know about cloging plugs and hurting cats and what not good thing i have track pipes but on average what horse power is lost when running to rich. for example my a/f ratio at around redline on fuel throttel is .925 it should be at around .875 to a .830 from what i was told. |
