Question Wanted opinions on which e36 to buy???

I have had my '97 328i for a year and a half now and am getting ready to sell it, i love the car but after doing alot of different mods to it i have found a couple of things i don't like about it. For example :No posi, after installing my custom s/c kit TUNNING has been a problem i actually got slower going from 5psi to 10psi on the stock computer, and my insurance (im 19).

I was thinking about getting a obdI e36,

I used to have a 91 mustang and after bolting on a s/c kit with a mechanical fmu I gained alot of power with no tunning, is that because of the simplicity of the ford eec-iv computer or is obd-1 exceptable to boost with little or no tweeking?

Also aren't the 92-95 e36 equipled with lsd's?

So i was wanting some opinions on going with a (92'-95') 325, a (95') m3 or to just invest more money in my 328???

Thanks,
Maurice

you're just on a FMU now w/ no other tuning?
Some 325s have LSD, most don't.

Yes, the computer dislikes the s/c very very much.

From what I have gathered across many fourms, you can get the OE computer to do decently enough with just a chip on the odb1 cars. I have a 94 325is and don't have a LSD. The s used to stand for Sport and have neat things like hip-hugger seats, LSDs, and rims. Aparently this was only true on the old e30s. Now the s means coupe. So if a guy is selling a 94 325i, its a 4door. If he selling a 325is, its a 2door. Mainly I personally would have jumped on a 318 and dropped somthing like a 3.0 m motor in it or at least a 325 motor. The way it is now for my 325 I spend over 1,000 every six months for insurance. So my want for the 318 would be the vin number to fool them into thinking that it was way slower. Then like I was saying in another thread, I could have my buddy at a crooked emissions shop test my car for me, so it wouldn't arouse any attention.

Tuning is very important. I highly suggest you get someone like Nick G to make you software. Maybe you could even find some FS, but a 328 ECU w/ S/C software im sure is pretty rare.

BTW Nick G's site is here...

the fmu worked fine on the mustang because it doesnt have advanced timing and high compression. If you had a non vanos 325 with just a fmu you would make decent power on probaly 8 lbs and under.

I have been doing some checking and i'm kinda interested in a 84-93 mercedes 190 diesel, and putting a chevy lt1 w/ s/c in it, i did a diesel swap an a 78 mercedes and it was one hell of a sleeper.

Not to say your wrong but my 78' had full independent suspension just like my e36 and almost the same weight distribution, i lowered it on custom coil overs and it handled just like my e36, also their is no smog on diesles.

OK, who wants a Minivan that "handle better" than an M3?

swap in a 3 litre 95 m3 engine, or go straight for an m3. Otherwise, I'd recommend an m roadster, and if you need it, and obd1 conversion
