To clean out an intercooler, you could pour gasoline down one of the necks. THen you will want to shake it around vigerously. To disposse of that old dirty gasoline, put it back into your gas can. lawnmowers will run on anything! p.s. make sure that you totaly empty out the intercooler and allow it to dry/evaporate. you dont want any backfires in your intake!

I've heard of guys on the SC MR2 list, using simple green. Use the diluted solution to the tune of about 10 to 20% of the total volume of the IC. Shake vigorously, Rinse, Repeat, Rinse, Rinse, Dry... Probably could use a shop vac to pull air through the IC for minutes. I would expose the IC to the full force of the shop vac... Would hate to colapse something... but it should be able to take it...

Excuse me... I didn't read your entire post... Simple Green is not going to help with styrofoam peanuts.... Would use a light duty vacume... One end and then the other, back and forth... Good luck...
