4-Cyl headers coming.

I got some great news on the 4-cyl headers today...the builders bench flow tested the headers and they flow 36% better with the single flange and 34% with the dual flange (a little drag on the seperator). THis is a 4-2-1 header improved mid range and it won't give you farting honda sounds

If you don't know, I am making headers for 4-Cyl bimmers (3 Series and Z Series) since nobody else will. I am trying to convince Downing Atlanta to package them with superchargers.

They should help a little with HP, and also it will give you the dual flange so you can use M3 stock exhaust, or you can get the single flange for stock applications.
Either way, they eliminate the midpipe and they weigh a little less than stock. They are made of stainless and I can even have them powder coated if you like.

I am not sure on a price yet, but I just want to get the word out there. This should make a splash (hopefully). If all goes well, you should see a booth at SEMA next year (thinking big)

Please let me know if you want to know more information about them and I'l gladly provide you with info.

Hi Windsor and BooBaa,

They should indeed work on the M42 in the E30. We are looking to make an application for all models of BMW.

Boobaa, send me (or have your friend) send me an email and I will put you guys on my mailing list. bavautoconcepts@earthlink.net

Thanks
Steve

Exclamation

So are you just making 4-2-1 headers or do you also have 4 into 1 headers as well? 4 into 1 will give you the best top end power from what I've read but they can restrict the power band, and the 4-2-1 are better for mid-range power but max power can be down 5-7% as opposed to the 4-1. Also, what about stepped headers? And what kind of collector pipes will you be using? From what I've read, if you're going to be using a 4-2-1 header for a 4-banger, there is a cetain kind of collector pipe you can use which gives an increase in mid range power without killing off the top end. Do you also have info on primary pipe lengths for the different types of headers and any info on the collector taper angles at all? Also, with the headers you're making, what is the degree of bend from the flange? They dont overlap the exhaust ports at all when fitted, do they? Any kind of fitting problems like this can cause severe flow limitations. Many headers have been sloppily manufactured with severe bends from the port and improper fittings in order to save time and expenses so you'll want to make sure they're being built and fitted correctly. Remember that the header is an extension of the exhaust port and any sudden change in their direction can cause distortions in flow!

sorry about the long post up there- I've been reading up a bit on headers recently and I forgot that you're making headers designed with F/I in mind, but I think my post up there should still apply to some extent.
