| the dinan supercharger is one of the more reliable and expensive kits out there ,you can get them from bmw dealerships and your warranty isnt even effected so i dont think the cause many problems or bmw wouldnt back them. |

| well like any sort of forced induction its going to dramatically speed up the wear and tear of the motor, depending on what stage you kit is re: stage 1, 2 or 3. that will better tell us how fast its going to cause problems, its not really a question of if but when. nothing against f/I i wish i could have it. its just a fact that the more power you squeeze out of a engine the less the life of it is going to be, when you do small stuff like intake, exhaust and things like that you aren't going to notice it but when you get into the F/I realm then its definaly noticable. i would say as opposed to at 200,000 miles a well maintained bmw engine would probably need a rebuild but with a superchager i would give it probably 20-30k before it needs a rebuild. Depending on how long the supercharger has been on there. but thats just IMHO. Tom |

| ok, then on the safe side i would personally say 40k tops before it would need a rebuild. but that is just IMHO and to be on the safe side it could go a great deal longer but you never really know every motor is different. but as the mileage gets higher I would keep and eye on it. Tom |

| mainly the common things that are replaced in a rebuild. piston wrings, maybe wrist pins. freeze plugs (not needed but its common to replace). maybe pistons depending on wear and condition and if you need to bore the block. cylinder walls. valves, valve seats, cam springs. timing chain, timing sprockets. bascially everything that is replaced or worked when a bmw engine is rebuilt those are all the things that you would be looking at but mainly i would keep an eye out for any new leaks, hoses, strange sounds. and once the miles get up there every couple months just for good measure do a compression test (about every 6 months) just from learning what i have over the past year i have been on this site that is what i would personally do if i had your car.
