Mechtech turbo w/aftermarket chip

I have an aftermarket chip installed in my car and getting the Mechtech turbo soon. They say dont have an aftermarket chip in with the turbo.

What will happen to the car? Is it goin to be bad for the car? Is it drivable with it installed?

I am no expert, but most chips advance timing when running N/A. I think there is a chance of detonation when boosting. I think. Can anyone that is blown add to that or correct me?

Are you buying a used turbo kit? All new kits have custom software installed, so this wouldn't be a problem. Yes, you will run into severe detonation with a aftermarket performance chip as the timing is going to be all screwey.

I bought a stage 2 kit from a guy. Its new and it comes with a piggy back software. Is dat goin to work. So then i will have to send my ECU out to programe it back to stock.

If it comes with it's own s/w then that is probably good.

What we all thought you meant was a Conforti or Dinan chip. Those are a no-no.

Oh i do have an aftermarket chip. Bavarian one. So do you guys suggest dont drive it hard back from the shop, or where ever, till i get the stock programe back onto my ECU?

I am confused about the whole thing honestly. If you are buying a used kit, it probably has the fuel pressure regulator system with factory injectors. I am not aware of any piggyback software that was made, but I am no expert on the old kits.

You should call Jim at MechTech for any advice..after all he made the kit.

Its not a used kit. Someone bought it and sold it to me cause he crashed his car before he had put the kit in. So its a new kit.

It does have a fuel pressure regulator w/ factory inj and he said it comes with a piggyback computer (sofeware) too. So i dunno. I have to wait for it to come in.

you have to get rid of the aftermarket chip, it will advance timing and destroy your engine.

the mechtech is all piggyback, so it wont counteract the chip.

This is not necessarily true.

First of all, this isn't a new kit. The turbochargers have been on backorder for over 6 months now. I got a brand new turbocharger from a guy who bought a kit and never installed it. They sent it to aerodyne, and checked it, and then installed it.

MechTech doesn't do piggyback anything anymore. They are using Active Autowerke to make the software.

I have no fuel pressure regulator.

I am running 35lb injectors and a high flow fuel pump.
