'97 Integra Type R vs. NOS Integra

So last night on the way back from dinner i'm riding in my friend's '97 Integra Type R, i was the only passenger. His ITR is semi-modded.. Tein N1 race coilovers, AEM intake, Mugen JDM header, Apex'i Dunk exhaust, puts 170 to the wheels.

anyway we roll up beside this yellow integra that was crazy modded on the outside, but DAMN was it ugly. repainted yellow, full shogun kit, 18" chrome, hideous wing, M3 side mirrors with LED turn sigs, purple graphics

so we start in 3rd gear, he starts in 2nd at around 40mph.. we nail it and he stays with us for about 100 feet then we hit VTEC and we were OUT.. lol, i love how that Type R sounds at 8500! we banged through 4th and slowed down once we hit about 105 on the speedo. he was WAY back there at this point.. at the next light he asks us what all was done to it, and then we asked what was done to his and he says "Spray" (aka, NOS).. we laughed our asses off and drove home.

not the showdown of the millenium, but it was a fun kill

How come other Ricers can't be as tastefull as your friend? That is one cool looking car. Not overdone at all. Nice.

i agree. it looks pretty much stock. the way i like it with a little drop and no overacting bullsh*t. nice kill tho. those ITR's are fast even out of the box.

I wouldn't say "fast" out of the box. Peppy is more like what I consider the the Acura.

Nice Type R, not riced out. Rolling stock for a change looks nice with the drop.

well, the ITR isnt that fast a car, i agree with you in callling it peppy. but when i can get a car for 22-24k and have sub 6 sec 0-60 times not bad. i am in the market of buying a M3 or something in that price range and the next-gen integra, RSX, isnt too bad a car. but just to say, a integra is not a M3 by a longshot

I say why spend 24k on an ITR when you can have a 97 M3 for the same price and have a way better car.

i don't agree.. i mean, yea E36 M3s are much faster, but i LOVE ITR's..

it's a much more pure sports car than an E36 M3, maybe it's lap times aren't as fast, but it's a very fun car to drive.

i hate the "well you could get a used M3 for the same price" mentality, THERE ARE OTHER NICE CARS out there and not all of them have a million HP.

anyway yes i love the look of his ITR..

its was a fun race. as for the thing about my cars speed, i didnt buy it because its just fast. i bought it because its a ****in blast to drive, anywhere, anytime, its rare (say that about an e36 m3 ) and it handles great. I could have had an e36 m3 for about the same amount of money, thats true. but i didnt, and i dont regret it at all.

thanks for the compliments from those who gave them. glad to see some people appreciate Type Rs, even if they're just peppy...


oh yeah, its a 98 R, same shit, subtle visual differences

Although I don't agree with buying it over the M, I am pretty loyal...

My heart was always set on an e30 M3, but an Integra type "R" was not too far behind..it was a tough choice whether I boughta 12 year old 2.5 e30 M3, or a 2 year old Type "R". Same kinda car, but the Bmw enthusisast in me chose M3.I'm glad I did buy my M3..I love it to death..!!

i used to have the undying, relentless loyalty to BMW, then i realized that that's stupid.. BMW makes a lot of nice cars, but so do a lot of companies.

if i wasn't doing my 3.2 swap, and i had to keep the 4 cylinder? i'd rather have a Type R than an E30 M3..
