Fuel leak 318 TDS SE

ello, I require some help please. I recently ventured over a speed bump, dam them things, mid way across I heard a thud, fearing me exhaust had left the underside of my car, I pulled over and got out to make sure it was still there, thankfully it was, but I did notice that the bottom of my fuel tank was covered in diesel and slowly dripping it onto the floor. after further observation I've come to understand that it only leaks when its running and a lil while after its turned off, this tells me it isnt a hole in the tank. The fuel, from what I can see is coming from the drivers side of the tank towards the top, I have yet to get right under there.

Can anyone shed some light on what the cause of this leak maybe please, all advice welcome

The same thing just happened to me. I have not fixed it yet, what did you have to do?

the only thing between the tank and the engine is fuel lines or a fuel filter, not sure if diesels have a filter tho. just have a look and all shall be answered, dont need our help.

I found out that my fuel sender loking cap wasnt tightened up securely, just has to put it on straight and all was sorted. its located under the rear seats, if you have a saloon, the rear bench just pulls up and out, under tht is abit if material covering a metal plate held in with four screws, remove that and there lies your fuel sender, if there is a puddle of fuel around thuis, there is your leak, check the rubber sel inside the cap is intact as this could be the reason for the leak. hope thtas some help to you.

That sounds about right, a mate of mine had the same problem.
