| music and copywrites Getting music without paying insane $$ in royalties seems to be impossible. I've noticed that a few dvds in the stores have major names like oakenfold and what not but its all mixed under a DJ that not many people know. By using a DJ can you get away with having those big names and not getting sued? |

| umm.. no. You have to have rights to every individual song played in your movie. I had a list of songs that were approved for Hyper Street Racing TYPE B and I could not deviate from that list unless I could get more artists to sign on. In the world of music and video, it's all about the money. They don't care about anything but money.. It's quite sad actually, because you'd think to them it would be a sort of 'free advertising'

| talk to the band, get them to sign a consent form. Have all their info, and all of your info, including how many songs, and how much of each song. Credits and what-not are a given. are you making a dvd that will be for sale or are you just looking into this for future use?

| ive been wondering this also. I always heard there was some kind of work around that you could use X amount of seconds of the music and not get in trouble, but thats probably wrong. The way i figure, theres plenty of good no-name bands out there that would just want to have their name in a dvd you could use. |
