M10 Problems Persist [Questions] Email from Top-End Performance on leaking distributor shelf/stand:
"It is likely that the housing is warped or damaged causing the gasket to not seal...If everything is CLEAN on both surfaces you should not need any sealer. DO NOT USE RTV SILICONE...If you use any sealer use a non drying sealer like Gaskacinch or Hylomar....Be sure and replace the little o-ring washer on the end 6mm bolt...If this does not cure it you most likely need a new rear housing.

I tried this but it did not work. The engine is a recent rebuild that had never leaked from that seal but I figured I would replace it because I had the cylinder head off the car. It more or less spurts from the seal between the rocker arm shaft and the oil pressure bore. Now, I did take a straight edge to both the cylinder head and the distributor stand.. and well, the stand is fine, and the head is warped. What could I do short of taking the head off, and having it machined flat? One obvious solution is to go to a junkyard and buy the distributor stand and grind/mill it to match. Another idea is to make a sleeve to insert into the bore thus relieving the pressure from the gasket. I could even use a rubber seal or a crush washer in between the two pieces along with the gasket. Honestly, do you think any of these would work? Also, what metals do not have adverse effects on aluminum?
