Some 2002 Tii questions

Hi there, im new to the forums here. Still tryign to get though the massive amount of info on here, hehe
I'm after some opinions relating to 2002's.
I'm currently looking at purchasing a '73 Tii model. It has recently been restored, all rust cleaned up, new interior trimming, reconditioned engine etc.
The guy has had it for over 20 years, and had it off the road for about 10, before recently restoring it back to near premium condition.
My main question is, how feasable would it be to use this car as a daily driver?
What sort or regular maintenance could i expect to undertake to keep the car in good working order?
Also, what minor modifications would you recomend that might enchance its ability to function as a daily driver?
I like the car alot, it looks and goes great, but wonder how often i could drive it without wearing the poor thing out. On average i'd do less than 30 miles a day.
Anyway, i'd appreciate any info or advice offered!
cheers

G'day onrelas,
Another aussie here . Where are you located in Australia?

The car you mention sounds excellent, and its a tii to boot! Enquire to how the rust was repaird though - was it replaced with metal or just bondo'd over the top?

02's can easily be used as a daily driver. Many people here in Melbourne do it, including myself for a period. My resoration project will be my new daily driver.

As far as minor modifications to make it better as a daily driver, there aren't really a lot. A tii is a beautiful car even in stock form. The best upgrade you could do would be to upgrade to the 5 speed OD gearbox found in e21's which i believe gives more drivability by lowering the rpm at freeway speeds. Another thing, If the radiator hasnt been recored, id highly recommend getting a 3 core one. Mine now sits bang on the middle and doesnt budge, even in 30+ degree heat.

I highly suggest you check out www.bmw2002faq.com and ask any further questions there. There is a much larger base of 02 knowledge there. Also, there are a few 02 owners on eurocca.net as well.

If your in Melbourne, feel free to contact me and i can put you on the Victorian 02 Register list to keep you in the loop.

Good luck,
Tom

G'day,

I'd echo pretty much what Tom said.

Had a mate who had a Tii for about 10 years, great car, if I was you I'd learn how to play with the fuel injection as its something that needs adjustment from time to time.

I'm an Aussie too but based in Sydney, if you are up here I can point you at some helpfull people too.

Cheers,
Iain.
