Is that the stock motor? I thought the stock motor was a 1.8L ?

I want to start with a good platform, I need horsepower to get this thing going ebfore the turbo.

O2 TURBO

ALL BMW 2002'S AND E21 FROM 77 ONLY HAVE A 2.0 CAST IRON BLOCK, FOR THE MOST PART 1.8'S CAME IN E21 FROM 78-83 AND E30'S FROM 84-87. SO IF YOUR O'2 GOT A 1.8 ITS NOT THE RIGHT ENGINE..

A 73 bmw 2002 is still a 2002, meaning...68-73 round tail tight cars and 74-76 rectangle light cars all have 2.0 engines hens the name 2002 meaning 2.0 liter with 2 doors,... 2.0 02 you get it? all other cars that look like 02's are 1502,1602 meanig 1.5 liters with 2 doors and 1.6/2 doors.. touring models were 2.0 tourings some people call them 2002 touring but they have 2 doors and a hatchback, euro only of course but there are a few running around in so cal.

here is a ruff giuide to o'2 weights...
1602 no sunroof about 1845lbs 1.6 cars never had a sunroof
2002 round light no sunroof 1923lbs 68-70 1/2
2002 round light sunroof with ac 2135 lbs to 2240 71-73
2002 rectangle light with sunroof and ac 2350lbs to 2420lbs 74-76
the best cars to build high performance projects out of are the later 74 to 76 cars becouse they have a stronger shell for cornering, and they can be made just as light, ive seen them as light as 1800lbs with a cage installed.
my cars has a race roll bar two race seats a rear euro bumper, no front bumper a fiberglass hood and trunk, and its at about 1930 lbs or so.
I hope this helps you out...

Hey, with these weight numbers you claim. How accurate are they? The numbers you give are the lowest i have ever heard, and proof of any of these weights?

Also, instead of starting a new thread. How much has everyone spent into rebuilding their engine? be it, low compresison for a turbo or a race motor? where did you buy your parts from?

These mumbers are based on information I gathered while working at 2002AD, reading the weight tags from lots of 1600's and 2002's now as for my car, it was recently weighed in at 1955lbs and change,
As for exact weights the only way to acquire that information is to go out and weigh a lot of original cars, good luck........ I know a guy that was racing a 69 2002 in scca itb class and in this class the cars are almost stock his car has full nascar door bars and even has the stock passenger seat
and it weighs in at 2300lbs on scca scale.. I hope this helps...
