| I know the basics of turbo charging but I still have alot to learn. I know I should get larger injectors, will I also need a new pump? I dont plan on racing or anything I just want to safely run 5-7psi for some extra help on the onramp and fending off pesky ricers on the freeway. What would you recommend for this set-up? Oh, I might take that manifold if I can afford it, like I said I need to stay under 2000 |

| apparently a really good setup is to run m10 with s14 head and turbo

| maybe you don't know enough about the interchanability between parts of the two... you have to reroute oil passages to get a s14 to bolt to a m10... and for the price of a known good s14 head you can almost get the block with it... and turbo'ing the engine wouldn't be any different than taking a s14 and putting in low compression pistons and turboing that... and the s14 has extra displacement... some people will use the s14 head on a m10 block only to get past "stock block" rules in drag and road racing....

| Why not go for a straight up S14 swap? You'll be able to hang with E36 M3's and beat the E30 M3. You will have a lot more options for higher power output if you want later on. Example: S14 with the 2.5L kit will give you 240 hp! Seth |

| hey 2002parts.com has a cool converson kit... but it is rather pricey...that is if you use a brand new crate e30 m3 engine. they say that you can get up to 250 hp plus the option to supper charge or turbo charge in the future. but shit that is almost too much powere for that little 02. think about 300hp behind 2000 pounds of weight...were talking mad wheele spin...i have also heard that if that turbo didnt come on the car on one of those origingal 2k2 turbos, then i hear they are a real pain in the ass and they arnt too dependable. plus if you get the M2 kit you will have bragging rights over anyone. also i might let you know that if you want to make any real upgrades to you engine...you should probably thing about rebuilding your rear end and getting a five speed trany. again 2002parts have cool converson kits including 5 speed, rear disc brakes, and M2 coversions. you will also need a closed diff in the back ....my suggestion it to get a really good dependable rear end and it will handle all sorts of horses. good luck on your decision inka2k2 |

With a 2k budget 150RWTQ isn't going to happen in a m10. You have like 80RWTQ stock ![]() |

| An M50/52 swap could get you to your goal of 150, and if you shopped patiently you could pull it off for 2 grand, but you would have to do the work yourself, thankfully there are a few people who've done it on this board. M50s are going for about 1000-1500 on ebay, depending on mileage, but to do the swap you need to wait for someone who wants to sell theirs with the tranny and wiring harness and you might be able to get about the same price, but there is a lot of work after that. And you don't say if you've got a back up car. But if you wanna stick with the M10, your plan would work if you do alot of work yourself, like the turbo back exhaust you can probably make from the do it yourself piping Borla sells, same with intercooler piping...and get an intercooler from a junked saab or volvo. Or at 6psi, forget the intercooler and get yourself a water injection setup. For fueling you could go with SDS, and bigger injectors, which is fairly cheap and tuneable. Or just get a cheapo rising rate fuel regulator, which would probably work fine if your injectors are in good condition. Since you have a budget, used parts are the way to go, for things like the turbo, but make sure you buy good ones. Oh, and the cheapest way to get 150rwtrq is almost certainly laughing gas, but thats not for everyone.
