| Looking to build a drift-spec 2002 any one know what would be a good list of mods and what order they should be done in?? Please give me a list if you do I am always open to suggestions and other such. Also if there are any web-sites that would be good to buy from for the parts.

| setup on it would be very similar to a AE86... they have similar designed suspensions and power outputs and weight... I would get a 320is LSD and do the LSD converison with the spacer kit... that will give you a LSD and 3.90 rear gear from 3.64... you really should do the 5spd conversion... 02's don't have a syncronized 1st downshift so you can't put it in first unless the car is almost stoped... Springs... Ireland engineering (www.bmw2002.com) makes a stage 2 autox spring that's borderline trackday/autox spring will give you a nice drop and firmer suspension... match with bilstein sports all around... when you drop the car you'll pick up a nice 2-3 degrees of rear camber... nice for drifting... engine can be fitted with a cam... some DCOE's and a header for nice performance... I've done my fair share of drifting in the orange car but I've never competed... that's a start... if you have any more specific questions just PM me... party on

| Has anyone converted the rear drum brakes to disks and if they have how is it done?? Is there any way to make the 2002 fuel injected without haveing to spring for a tii?? If not then what would be a good engine swap choice?? I only ask these questions because number one, stoping power is just as important if not more so then horsepower and disks are just better. Number two, fuel injection gives me more options in the long run for tuneing. Thanks for all of your help.

| I plan on going turbo sometime in the future but thats still a long way off. I mean it will happen but not until I get alot of experince driveing the car as is.

| Go turbo, every once in awhile old century and other turbo kits will pop up on ebay, they're good for just under 200hp and usually sell for about a grand, I think the ones that sell most often are for E21 3series, which has the same block, but K-jet and not carbs or EFI. You can get an E21 engine for about 150, so it shouldn't be too costly. But, as far as what you need to do to get it set up, just get an LSD, and you should be able to drift it. And replace all the bushings and stuff. 5spds, and suspensions and stuff are a definite plus, but not so needed. Most of the AE86 drivers don't go over 140hp anyway, and they weigh about the same.

| The turbo is slated for sometime in the distant future. You see I want to learn how to drift with about 140-160hp and after I have that all down to a science and am confident that I can pull it off everytime then the money for a turbo is put on the table and then I start to go to D1 comp's. I want to (bar death or something like death) become a pro rally racer and I dont mean the craptastic rally that they have here in the USA I mean WRC..

| Any idea where I could get some adjustable coil-overs for the front and back as well as adjustable camber plates?? Because Race springs are all well and good but I want something that I can fine-tune for whatever road/track that I am on.

| thing is dude you dont need all that, how experienced are you with cars anyway? like would you be able to alter adj suspension and adj camber plates by urself? i know i couldnt, if you want real power in an 02 its a good idea to think about an S14 swap, they bolt straight in. How much driving experience do you have? and also do you actually have all this money to be able to do something like this?

| speaking of suspensions, i was looking under the front of my 69' 2002 i just got and i was shocked to see it had coilovers. Now they do not look new by any means. should i take em out and put shocks and spings in? (I plan to race my 02') In the rear it has bilsteins but they feel really soft also is there anyway to fix the unsychronized 1 downshift w/o a 5 speed conversion |
| ||||
| as for a "s14" being a bolt in... HA!!! and who wants to spend $4500 for 180HP anyway... it's a good motor just way way overpriced for what it is. and yes the only way to fix that downshift is a 5spd conversion.. just wasn't available on those gearboxes..
