| Salvaged 325I with 525 Engine Guys, Does anyone have any experience with putting a 525I engine in a 325? The salvage company I am working with has a rebuilt 325 first owner hit a curb, bent the front cross member and cracked the oil pan, then proceeded to drive the car with no oil. The salvage company bought the car and pulled the 325 engine and put a 525 engine in it. I test drove the car and it is strong, feels great, but the idle is a little rough, there is a slight flutter in the RPM maybe 50 - 150 rpm, when I hold the door I can feel its a little rough on the idle. exhaust smells rich but only if I cup my hand around the pipe and then smell my hand. is this something that can be fixed by a computer reset? is this something that will never work because of the mismatched computer/engine? is there anything else long term I should worry about or take into consideration? it such a sweet deal too, 2006 325i 34k on car 36k on engine with both titles, car is missing the sports package, but has cold weather, tinted mirror, bluetooth, power, steptronic, auto sense wipers. They want 14900 for it. Thanks, Ed Last edited by cryofix : 08-29-2009 at 10:31 AM. |
