High revving engines are never known for their torque numbers

That does seem a little low... Porsche got similar numbers out of 3.6L in the GT3 didn't they? Keep in mind I'm not trying to belittle the V8 in the new ///M. I'm just sayin..

I'm fully aware.. I just thought that the hp numbers should have at least approached 450. Hopefully it will react to bolt ons well but, knowing bmw's recent cars it probably won't. We shall see what its real numbers are like once it is released.

As you probably know already from history, BMW likes to underrate their power figures quite a bit. Most recent example being the 335 engine being rated at 300/300 when it's actually quite more.

I would think the same would apply to the new V8 for the E92 M3.

Looks like quite a bit of power can be freed up by replacing that horrible exhaust.

I don't know what to feel about it, it does seem a tad low for its specs. Maybe it's a marketing thing where, as said they underrate the actual figures. Also make room for "tuned" versions later in the years maybe..

You're wrong their matey! Audi has become a REAL rival for almost every car brand there is....Also, just like BMW, their range of cars/engines is unthinkable. Yeah, just like you, I'd still pick a BMW. But have you driven or been into say the new RS4??
