New M3 or new 911 4S...???

If price were no option, would you prefer a new M3 or a new 911 Carrera 4S? I know to some of you there is a clear choice but to me the answer is not so obvious. Performance figures for both are about the same. Is the Porsche really worth the extra money?

Well, a Porsche has more status attached to it, especially with people who don't know cars. I love the way the E46 M3 looks, but you can't beat the sculpted shape of a Porsche (even though it's been the same style for decades).

i would still choose the M3, unless the Porsche was a 996 Twin Turbo w/ the X50 package

I would want to drive both, of course, but would heavily side towards the C4S.

Actually, I would prefer a used 996TT (used only cause it would be closer in price to a new C4S)

A lot of it comes down to what you can afford... don't listen to anybody crying sour grapes.

I'd rather get a 993TT. Last of the air-cooled engines.

That's great that the engine is air-cooled... but i'm not yet convinced that it makes a car "better".

After seeing many pictures of the 993 interior, I don't think it compares to a 996. I also doubt it feels as stable at high speeds.

granted, I would gladly trade my M3 for either one given the opportunity! (maybe I can sell an organ or something?)
