| Common e46 M3 performance Mods Is there a site or list of the more common 346 M3 mods for performance? Like, does everyone put on the Turner headers and exhaust? Do people put in their cams? Do most people go to Bilstein coilovers? Is there a common big brake kit? Does everyone use a particular short shifter? Anywhere where this kind of thing is in a single place or a couple of people's sites that have "well-modded e46" would be appreciated.

| What everyone does is usually not the best thing out there. The best of the best is usually run on the track, where the parts actually get used... on the street its mroe for bragging rights and to attempt to show off, but in the end its still a street car thats not even coming close to its limits. If you have an E46 m3 and want to make it accelerate faster, handler better, brake better, get better gas mileage, basically increase the efficiency overall, remove 400lbs from the car and you will love the car! And you wont even need to replace any engine components since its more then enough power for what ti is. |

| Power: Euro headers, euro cats should yield about 10 hp. Most aftermaket exhausts yield about 5 hp (if that) but weight savings and sound is why most people get them. An intake, cams and software should get another 20 hp +/-. 35 hp +/- Suspension: H&R coilovers or Ground Control coilovers are popular, GC or Eibach sways, front and rear braces etc. Brakes: Brembos are really popular altho many owners also switch to the Euro rotors which save a few lbs / corner. Like stated previously - losing weight will help performance. Lighter wheels such as BBS RGRs will save about 6 lbs per corner (about 24 lbs total). Lighter battery can save about 30 lbs. Lighter seats can save about 35 lbs per seat. Exhaust can save 5-35 lbs depending if you get a titanium exhaust. You can easily almost shave off about 150 lbs with the listed mods. Hope this helps. |
