| How can you say that E46 is not a driver's car... it still has the best handling in it's class .

Again the e46 M3 is vauge in chasis, disconnected from the throttle (damn drive by wire), and overall has a very boaty feel. They are similar arguments that I have heard against the Toyota Supra. I too fall prey to wanting a supra for pure modability, but in the end I feel that it too is not a pure drivers car. What is a true drivers car on today's market? Well there are very few, in the states, you can buy a 911 GT3 (2003), an NSX (although I have heard complaints about feedback, I have not driven one), and there have to be a few others. Also something to consider is the e30 M3, its skidpad numbers were not the best, but that is one of the most driver oriented cars I have ever driven..... And Alex, welcome back, we will get you a ride in in soon.... |

| The E46 M3 is a let down compared to the previous m3s. Its a very powerful car but you'd never know by the way it feels or sounds. It serves best as a high speed cruiser where as the e36 m3 is home on the roadcourse. The SMG II system is worth its weight in gold though. 18 pounds, I guess thats not that much gold. klasic If you want a monster of a car get a 2003 Z06. Theres nothing that can hang with a Z06 in third gear this side of super car land. Brian |

| Wow Fantastic Porsche. Congratulate your dad on the acquisition. Turbo engines are so much fun to tune and run. I would definitely consider a car like yours as my next purchase. We'll see what the new M generation holds. If they get to 'bangleized' I'm moving to a P-car.

| a lightly modified C2 Turbo can definately hang with a Z06, straight line or curves. What do you think Ian, just the 1 bar spring or spring and chips?

| Ok the more detailed responce.... In 1991-92 When these cars were imported to the states they were a super car, porsche said the 0-60 time were around 4.8 sec, road test have it running it in 4.2. 100 miles and hour passes in just 10.7 sec. It was compared to the F40 and the ZR-1, and it fell just between the two for acceleration. Now w/ the comparision to the Z-06, I do admit that it is formidable car with a lot of speed, but from the test number the cars seem fairly close in speed, 0-100 for the Vette is around 10.4 or 10.5. With a 1bar spring (up from .7) I think the 965 would easly run with or pull on a z-06. So maybe a decade has given the vette a little more speed, but the brakes on the 965 haul it down from 60 in 105 feet, giving it equal performance to the vette. So just running the numbers they are fairly similar, but in the end if I see a Z-06 roll up next to me, I think ehh another vette, mass production (yes I admit they are performance bargain) built with cheap plastic and fibgerglass. The 911 has class, is super rare, built with craftsmanship, and the best materials. To each his own as alway...

| not to go off topic, but as fast as a z06 is, it will always be a chevy...

| Ah, i'm glad to see that there is still love for the last generation of rwd turbocharged porsches... My dad owned a '94 3.6 Turbo. Midnight Blue/Cashmere Supple Leather Dual Power Seats/Dual Lumbar Painted Crests, Crests in Headrests Digital Sound EVERY option, except CD (dunno why) Coolest option-- Rear Seat Delete, the useless rear seats were replaced with a nice shelf/storage cabinet. That car HAULED ass. I couldn't imagine it with MORE power.
