| E46 M3 GTR (Customer Racing Version) Although this information is a bit dated (2001-2002), it is interesting to see the specs listed on the 2 page brochure. "The racing car is planned to be delivered as a kit comprising the fully assembled V8 engine. It will comply with the technical rules of A.C.O applicable for the American Le Mans Series' GT class 2001." Haven't seen this posted before, so here it is: http://www.slipers.net/JMB/bilder/temp/M3GTR.pdf Link isn't working. Look Below. ![]()

| I would have been a great limited production car but too bad it will never be. This is a pic of the engine.

I would revert you to the original post on BMWplanet.com, but unfortunately they are down at the moment. I will post the link when they are operating. If I remember correctly. "BMWX5Guy" from BMWplanet, took these pictures at the BMW dealership in U.A.E (United Arab Emirates) sometime around winter/spring of last year: 2002. Supposedly this first production number model, sold for $1,000,000 USD, when the MSRP is at around $250,000 USD. This model had a "SOLD" placard on the dash/windshield already. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Additional Info/pics: http://www.bmwm5.com/vbulletin/showt...threadid=16124 ![]()

| You are right Kaisake, there are very very few but no where near as many as BMW had planned. The production of the M3 GTR was canceled when BMWs M3 GTR ALMS competing race car, that was built under Automobile Club de L'Ouest(ACO) 2000 rules, was deemed not in the spirt of the GT class by the ACO in 2002. BMW was ready to start production but under pressure from Porsche the ACO raised the homologation requirement for the class, causing BMW to pullout of the ALMS. Porshe complained that the engine was not based on any BMW production engine. Rumor has it that the 4L V8 was developed for competition in DTM but the program was nicked, so BMW decided to put the engine to use in the ALMS. Porsche also complained that the production M3 GTR was too expensive for the class, ACO agreed. To my knowlegde the production M3 GTR pictured above is the only one BMW built to show the ACO that it was ready to start production. This is why it may have been sold for $750,000 over it's sticker price.
