| I would assume it is possible. I mean, it's an I6 also. One of them members in Australia fitted a 95 540 V8 in his E36, so I'm pretty sure the E46 M engine would fit in an E36 |

| Fittment is not that much of an issue The only area that fittment might be an issue is the hood. The S54 Motor is slightly taller, hense the hood bulge of the E46. The real difficulty will be getting the engine wired up to the E36 car's electrical system. That has been the limiting factor for most enthusiasts that want to do the swap. It becomes prohibitively expensive to retro fit. Pete
