dont worry about it, some us of like the exhaust, some of you dont. Its no big deal. Reading your post isnt going to convince us that the exhaust note sucks.

After hearing it in real life and listening to tens of videos, when pressed, it sounds, to my ear, like the small displacement dirt bikes I use to ride as a kid. I think it does the car a great disservice to be bound to such an unsavory exhaust note--it has no "song". For comparison, I find the E36 M3 exhaust note nearly perfect. Oh, I have an .mp3 of a factory M5 and it sounds good.

And for those that write that the exhaust note is unique-thus-good, that doesn't cut it. Just being unique doesn't make it good. Hell, the fart exhausts on Civics were unique for a time but it still sounded like a long drawn-out fart.

Who said it was? He asked how I felt about the exhaust note and I told him. The question was not "How do you feel about it and convince people your way is right".

Don't be a pedant. I made the point that being unique doesn't make something good, that's all. It's no basis to say something is good because it is unique because I could just as well shoot myself in the hand and say that the blood splatter created was unique...thus good.

I know you know what I was saying. The exhaust may well be good to them but that particular argument doesn't wash.

"Oh, those shoes are orange and pink. They're unique; I like them." Come on, that doesn't pan out.

Socrates, I understand what your saying; it dosent make it true. For example, I am one of the guys who think that the exhaust note on the e46 m3 is unique and enjoy how it sounds. But I dont enjoy how it sounds solely because it is unique, I always find myself tempted to downshift just to hear it go through a gear like a chainsaw. You have every right to disagree with me, im just trying to tell you that there is a lot more to me liking the exhaust on my car than it just being unique. Know what im saying ?

What you're saying is that we never disagreed in the first place. You like it not only because it's unique and that was my point. Liking it just because it's different is a knee-jerk reaction.

Hell, I like the exhaust on the Viper GTS and most car magazines seem to hate it. It's unique, yes, but it's also got a certain rasp to it that I simply like--sounds like an unmuffled Volvo five cylinder, actually.
