whats that got to do with anything?

If you don't like our country then get the $#ck out! I would venture as far to say that if you were to move to europe that you would want to move to germany. Fine, move to germant, but I've got to warn you that you're going to be paying 70% of your income to taxes.

Too bad there isn't a website for blown up S4s. Cause the list would be crazy long.

The only reason why people with Audis upgrade from K2 to K3 and K4 turbos is because the original ones blow up on them. Also when you start messing with the DME timing and incresing boost these cars are ticking bombs. I've seen pistons fly out of S4s tuned to the gills.

And for your info all the M3s that had spun bearings were covered under warranty at no cost to the owner.

I'm not sure what K2 turbos you're referring to, but I assume when you say K3 you mean K03 and likewise K4=K04. People upgrade to K04 turbos from the stock K03's because they want more horsepower (a la the RS4)... However, if you look at unmod'd S4's (read: unchipped) you'll notice that the reliability of them is actually very good. For the most part, the only problems owners would run into is when they abused the car (ex: ran the car hard constantly without ever letting the turbos properly warm up).

Oh, and I understand that BMW replaces the engines for the owners of blown M3's, good job BMW! I would expect no less from them.

The only point I was trying to make, in the first place, is that stating that one should choose an M3 over a Z06 because of reliability is stupid silly... the Z06's unstressed engine makes the car far more reliable now AND down the road.

Given the choice, though, I would take an M3 over a Z06 for the other reasons listed above.

Corvette Z06: Trouces the M3 in nearly every performance aspect. Rough ride. Cheap-feeling interior. Lots of grip. Throaty exhaust note (love it or hate it, and personally, I love it). Screwdriver-through-a-pile-of-rocks gearbox. Mediocre seats, and only two. Feels a bit smaller on the inside and larger on the outside. People not familiar with Corvettes will mistake it for a standard C5, and those familiar with it will love it.

M3: Good feeling interior. Not as fast. Easier to coax into a drift. Too-buttery gearbox (opposite ends of the spectrum as far as the feel of manual trannies go). Back seat, and a comfortable one at that. Good, hip-hugging front seats. I6 exhaust note (love it or hate it, and I personally hate it). People not familiar with BMWs will mistake it for a standard 3-series, and those familiar with it will love it.

Personally, I would choose the Z06. It actually was more comfortable to me, although the seats don't hug like my C4 (sport seats baby!) or the M3. I found the interior of the Z06 to appear slightly plasticky (for lack of a real word), wheras the M3s appeared to be finished very well. Still, dashboard materials are not enough to make me overlook the performance gap.

Go with what you wish. DRIVE THEM FIRST!!! I found the Z06 more comfortable, but I had previously been under the impression that the M3 was more comfortable. That's just an example of how things may not be good for you or you may love other things.

You can't go wrong with either.

My two pennies.

Some good non-biased writing.

I was somewhat disappointed at the Z06's exhaust note, it's nice, but not extremely loud for an American Car (maybe i'm just used to hearing camaros with flowmasters ??? ).

My friend has one, and it is probably one of the fastest cars i've ever ridden in--the torque is amazing. We slid the car just by tapping the gas @ 2k rpm..

Of course you guys aren't taking into consideration that it is Modded S4s running high boost with the engine problems, not stock cars like the M3...

The BMW E46M3 gets horrible gas mileage for a Inline 6. The Corvette Z06 gets great mileage for a large displacement pushrod V-8. Its really a toss up as far as gas mileage is concerned.

I love the comment by the S4 guy. Don't you realize in a straight line an S4 vs. M3 it comes down to the driver?? Haven't you figured that out yet??

Put a few bolt-ons on the M3 and you're pulling away from him. An S4 on the other hand, put any kind of modification and you're at the dealership. Don't even start to think or compare the reliability of an M3 to an S4, cause you'll get flamed for it buddy.

the Z06 will destroy the E46 M3 in all performance aspects...but that doesnt mean the M3 isnt a good performer...both are awesome performance cars...the M3 is more practical though...2+2 seats, more room, more luxury, creature comforts..etc....the Z06 is an all out 2 seater race car

Vette Z06 & E46 M3=
