| how safe is N20 on an E46 M3? i've never been a real big fan of running it....doesn't seem like real HP to me. thats all subjective though lately, i've been real curious as to what i could do though, just to experiment. i haven't heard of anyone doing it yet can anyone offer up some advice on the issue?

| Ya it doesn't sound to safe to me either. They already have that engine tuned to the very edge that it can produce as far as HP goes so i wouldn't be real keen to go and put more stress on it.

| heh....can't do much about the "hot chick" part..but heres a pic anyway ![]() is the biggest problem the compression ratio and is there any other way of lowering it without swapping pistons?

Don't let your next pic be one of you crying over your blown up ///M ![]() RMS tried to develop a S/C for the E46 M3, but they tested them out on the track on M Coupes with S54 motors. The M coupe blew out 2 cylinders I believe..

S54 engines are built with cutting edge technology. These engines have more racing and motorcycle technology than car technology. This doesn't translate to bullet proof durability, as it is. Force this engine to create that much more power than it's been designed for, and your taking a sledgehammer to its delicate balance and synergy. If you need/want more hp than the M3 can muster, go buy yourself a '03 Mustang SVT, or a Z06 Corvette. Both create 400 HP stock, and can be easily modded to got to 600+ reliably. Cast Iron V8 blocks can create an insane amount of HP and laugh every time you hammer it. I had a '87 Mustang years ago, and raced the 1320 for years with it, most of the time power shifting all the way through. Had only to replace the cluch plate, and regular maintenance. My E46 M3 wouldn't last a few weeks if I subjected that kind of punishment to it. ![]()
