no it was new. 8k on the odo.

i have a friend that buys and sells cars constantly..

he always pass on to me good deals for cars i am interested in.

the m coupe was a very good deal. at that time bmw gave the dealers $3k to move all Z3's which included the M Coupe..

The $3k from bmw plus some dealings and i got it dirt cheap.

well lets put it this way, if you haggle enough ive seen people get $500 off msrp if you go to a small dealer, for instance i couldnt afford one with a 5K mark up, so i called around and haggled for not even 5 mins i got every dealer to go from 10K over to 5K over, or 5K over to 2500 over, they told me to just come in and we will have a tlak, keep in mind i was talking to everyone around the state of ca, back in march now keep in mind im 16 and they still took me serisouly and when i found my dealer he instanly gave me msrp with 0 wait so i threw 1K at him for down payment, so anyways he ****ed up royally and it took a while told him to hold off on putting me in, and put me on que for an 03, so now i got mine built and waiting for a boat, well lets think about this, i can see paying 2500 to 5K to throw out the window for getting a reputable dealer thats not gonna **** around but i like saving money, and i get an 03 with that extended warranty and titanium trim option, so it was a gift missing my 02 production slot, now oakland is ignorant and is talking out of his ass, and just because you own a business doesnt mean it runs well or you know what your talking about remember only 15% of business make it past the first 10 years, now if oakland said something like hey if you have the extra cash to throw out the window and want a good reputable dealer thats done this many times go for it.

If you can get a 2003 below MSRP. I would more than willing to get one too with your group. Do you have the dealer info?

Dang....u young boys really need to learn a few things....I personally know Oakland E46 and I can tell you he is not a spoiled brat!

I too own a euro tuning shop and don't mind hooking up close buddies with deals but to have a complete stranger ask me for discounts is very odd.....

don't take the message the wrong way....nothing wrong with doing a group purchase and saving a few bucks but sometimes it's just not appropriate. (ex. do you go into McDonald's and ask for a group buy on fries...hahaha)

Rick

i aggree with you........kiwang.....the reason why you got 8k off that m coupe is because it is not a desirible car. they are very soft cars on the market.........i work in the car business, i would pay full pop for that thing because that is the market. Going through all that hassle coordinating a group buy to save 1200.00 is not worth my time. Personally, i would rather spend my time doing something that is less involving. With all due respect, this is not a flame towards anyone, just my .02 .......just tired of people comming in and asking for discounts on the new 2003 SL-500r because they read off a mercedes board that some internet mooch bought a car for below window price.

ooooooh i also have one request, my mom's s320, i guess is a starmark pre-owned benz, and we jus found that out, cuz it was bought at an auction, and i was wondering, if i can give u the vin #, u can give me a dcs(?) on the vehicle, and any more warranty information, and the terms that starmark warranty covers, i think i have u on my aim, crazyazn44 or something, but haven't seen u on, let me know bro, thx!

another funny story

when the s2000 first came out,I called around to see what kind of deal i can get.

some dealers were selling at 5k over MSRP!

one dealer i called gave me the standard pitch "come on in and we will give you a great deal"

over the phone i insisted that he give me a price. so the salesman calls me back and gives me the standard answer:

"because you are so special we will sell the car to you at $1k over MSRP"

I replied "This is great! I'll come in right away and pay cash! while i am at the dealer can you do me a favor?"

The salesman by this time is very happy and says "anything you want!"

I said " in the middle of your showroom can i drop my pants and you screw me up the ass in front of all the customers? because that is what you are doing to me with this deal"

that was a priceless moment.. Gave the people in my office a good laugh too.

Whoever doesn't like to bargain is definitely a person who lacks social skills. Bargaining is what it's all about. It's been going on ever since businesses started and it's become a part of the business culture, especially with cars.

Have you ever looked at prices in the newspaper? They're purposely over-priced for anticipation that the buyer will bargain.

Oh my gosh you did not go there, Mr.High Roller. I can see John Gotti arguing about about price for his Wool Coat. I think your stepping on your own foot buddy. Its not a matter of social skills, Its a matter of pride. It's also a matter of time! I don't have time to nickel and dime someone for a few cents. I respect anyone else's business in hopes they respect mine. It's simple, if the price is too high for me or out of my budget, I pass and don't buy. I'm not gonna cry to someone to give me a lower price, IT IS A MATTER OF PRIDE. As for mr.High roller, you can cry all you want.
