Ran an E46 M3 tonight :)

Was coming back from the city and was on the Eastern Distributor when I saw some bi xenon lights behind me. At first I wasn't sure if it was an M3, but as it got closer I saw the signature mirrors. He evently slowed down when we were under the tunnel near moore park supa center, but as soon as he exited, he gunned it and I followed. I think he must have been surprised I was not only still with him, but I was in front of him. As the speeds rose, traffic up ahead was closing up fast. I wasn't sure if I had enough clearance to pull out in front of him, so I backed off and let him through then followed. All the way up to the tunnel we were playing cat and mouse. A commodore soon joined in, but I wasn't sure if it was a Ds car, so I backed off.

Would have been nice if we got to pull over and talk a bit. I would have loved a closer inspection of it. The M3 was in my favourite colour, black

Good work.

Your car is such a sleeper its weird though - I cant imagine it going so fast.

I think alot of folks wouldnt even race you because your car is so understated (good in some ways I guess).

Hell, if a car like yours smoked me Id probably think my car was playing up and take it to my mechanic. ;-)

Time for just a bit of bling bling I reckon - even just some light 18s.

Get it sorted raima- if its sleepy you want- keep it that way, and just ADD to it!

More boost, and more engine work to make it all last- get it done right, and it will have the power EVERYDAY, and be easy to drive.

Keep the rims, or even put stockers on it. Enjoy driving the thing most of all.

I know I would enjoy the unassuming look with the nuts of all teh exotica.

Personally I would like an E30 325 with a HerbErik jobbie on it, with crappy paint and stocky wheels.

380hp and more torque than you can poke a 308's crank at- yes thanks!

Now that's what I call a daily driver! Why? Cause youd want to drive it everyday!

Raima: Good work. I agree with Jools, go for the Q ship approach.

I'd remove any and all stickers/badges. Have your internals rebuilt with 6.5:1 pistons and a Motorsport crank and get an ATI powercharger.

The supercharger whine would drive people to distraction because they'd never think it came from your car!

Even better, go turbo and blast the Commodore GTO and GTSs off the road.

6.5:1 ? LOL, I won't be running 40PSI

9:1 will be enough for me. I'd really prefer to drop it down to 9.5:1, but I've been told I'd be walking on egg shells with 16PSI.

We've already got a 318ti with 9:1 compression with 15PSI running with 165kw ATW. I'm hoping to get more with our new blowers The ti is owned by a driver instructor and he tracks it around 10 times a year. Day in, day out the car is bullet proof The worsts that's happened is, we've snapped a hose clamp *shrug* We got a new one on the day and she was happy again

Yeah! Why not try and go turbo Raima?

My friend Paul had a Sprintex centrifugally boosted 1.8 4cyl Alfetta GT @ 18psi, running 7:1, and he turned a little over 200 RWHP (maybe 207 or something) on Bill Nabhan's Dyno.
After turbocharging with a GT25 (same compression, same boost, and intercooler, but higher revs because there's no belt), he's now turned 313 RWHP on the same dyno.

The car ABSOLUTELY HAMMERS now- its the type of acceleration that makes your vision go blurry. It actually forced him (read: Scared hime!) to get 4 spot brembos put on the front

It rocks!

Oops I meant he turned 240-odd at 18psi- now he's running 30 and its turned 313!

But he can change boost without worrying about pulleys etc too!

GT25 sounds like a real beast

I don't think I'd want to go that crazy. I'd like a car that's easy to drive on the street and the track. Big turbos on race tracks are not good. It'll be too difficult (fo me) to feed the throttle through the corners. The superchargers have a nice linear power increase and makes driving around a circuit easier. I'm not saying you can't race around a track with 30PSI in a turbo car. I don't think my experience/courage is at that level Plus, I'm pretty happy with the superchargers at ALS. The tuning is one of the best and is excellent for the power : PSI ratio.

I'll be happy with 240bhp ATW with 16PSI mid next year. After that, I'll be focusing on working on E46 M3 race car.

Thanks for the suggestion tho
