***E46 M3 BRAKING FACTS*** (comparo)

I took of some of the world's best sports cars and compared the braking capabilities:

FROM 60 mph FROM 80 mph

02 Lamborghini Murciélago --> 122ft 213ft

01 Ferrari Barchetta --> 122ft 216ft

02 Ferrari 360 Modena --> 125ft 221ft

02 Porsche GT2 --> 116ft 209ft

02 Porsche RUF RTurbo --> 126ft 225ft

02 Corvette ZO6 --> 123ft 212ft

02 BMW M3 --> 112ft 200ft



*All the tests were done under the same condition.
**Source was Road and Track Magazine.
*** I still ask myself, why do people change the brakes on the E46 M3 for street use.

Cars don't all weigh the same, and have different tires

You have to factor in the overall weight of these cars in relation to their stopping distances.

But yeah, the M3 has some great brakes.

That's true but they're all consideres super sports cars. I'm really sure about the E46 M3, is it Sports car or a GT car?

If you really want brake power and virtually no fading, you'll get this:

FROM 60mph from 80mph

People change there brakes because there is a HUGE difference in stopping your car once from 80 to 0 in a emurgency situation and doing it over and over and over all day long on a race track.

If they extended that test out to 20 back to back 80-0 stops, you would see a BIG change in the ranking outcome.

That's the only reason I was thinking. However I have taken my friend E46 M3 to Sebring, I was lapping for about 30 minutes and really didn't experience any brake fade.

Im not sure about how accurate those times are but the 360 Modena times are way off. Hands down that car kills all of those cars listed. 360 achieved braking from 60-0 in 110ft and 80-0 in 188.
