| im afraid now of fear of my M3 engine blowing up now when i get it, if i miss a shift. or the rev limiter not working ive been reading storys all day long on that, well question is, is it really a faulty rev limiter? and another problem ontop of that? that the tachometer is off? i remember reading that mustangs have the same problem with their factory tachometer being off by 500rmps sometimes, so maybe thats the same witht he M3, so what im gonna do is buy a high performance tachometer and i would love to test it once my 02 m3 comes in next month after 3300 miles that is, i noticed that over half were 01's with the bearing problem and bmwna claiming "over-rev" but i saw a few 02's, how many people on dtm have had this problem? |

| Man, this is really starting to worry me. Has anyone tried to petition the NHTSA to issue a recall? There seems to be quite a bit of anecdotal evidence to support that there's a manufacturer's defective. |

| There're 38 blown engines so far on bimmer.org(acutally 39, because a friend of mine just blew his M3 motor too). All of them got the rod bearing issue basically. Here's the link concludes all the information: M3 Engine Failures
